Julia Wanjiru Kagicha

Latest update
May 16, 2019
Julia has a new grandson from her youngest son. The new daughter in-law lives in her compound although they have built their own house. Her daughter-in-law helps her around and keeps her company.
She also watches 6 of her grandchildren while her daughters look for work in the city. Her health has been much better compared with previous years when she experienced a lot of chest pain.
Julia is the innovator and creator of the "Julia basket" and has taught other widows how to make these popular baskets (for sale in our gift shop!).
Remarks
Julia is thankful to God because she is now able to take medication which has greatly improved her breathing and chest. She is also thankful to God for her family.
Background
Julia lives with her son and two of her grandchildren, and is an accomplished basket weaver. Two of her children died of AIDS and she was left to care for her orphaned grandchildren.
She was separated from her husband in 1983, and she moved back to her father’s land. Currently she occupies two acres of her father’s land but her brothers have never given her a title deed.
Julia is grateful for her water tank and the cow she was gifted. Her cow has given birth four times but one calf died. Julia enjoys cattle farming and is hoping that she could have more cows to milk as her business.
Prayer alert: Julia has had chest problems for a while and has been diagnosed with kidney problems and high blood pressure.
